The history of the brewery and how it all started.

2010  

Business purchased by Phil & Sue Dewes. Phil starts the unenviable task of converting the old farm buildings into his vision of a brewery, visitors centre and tourist attraction. Jane Kendrick joins the company to help Sue in the many administrative duties.

Phil Davies also joins the company, and sets about helping Phil in the setting up of the microbrewery.

 
2011  

March, after a long twelve months of hard work and considerable investment, Woodfarm Brewery & Visitors Centre is opened by Leicester, England and British Lion No 8 Rugby Player Dean Richards, an event that was attended by so many and enjoyed by all. The very first home cooked meals are served to the delight of regular visitors

In keeping with Sue and Phil’s passion for sport and in particular Rugby, Real Ales “Victorious”, “Grand Slam”, “Twickers”, “1823 Mild”, “N0 8”, “Woodfarm Best” and trademarked “Webb Ellis” are re-born.

     
2012  

Brewing “guru” Chris Pickard joins the company as Head Brewer.

The Brewery opens up to brewery tours and proves very successful with local businesses. Special Events are held in the Visitors Centre and the Brewery holds its first of many beer festivals.

“Webb Ellis” is sold in the “Strangers” Bar in the Houses of Parliament.

     
2013   New Ales “Scrum”, “Winter Warmer” and” Rucking Santa” are created and go down very well with the ever increasing customer database. Woodfarm Brewery starts trading with JD Wetherspoons.
     
2014  

The idyllic grounds of Woodfarm Brewery opens its gates to Official Club Caravan Rallies who take advantage of the excellent menu in the Visitors Centre & Brewery Tours. New Ale “Porter” is born, again proving very popular current and new customers.

Experienced Sales Representative Ian Rogers joins the company.

     
2015  

Phil & Sue Dewes decide to take a well earned rest and back step appointing Jane & Linden Kendrick to take over and run the brewery side of the business. New ales “AllRounder” and “Back of the Net” to be launched which will appeal to a wider sports minded audience.

Website and branding to get a new look. Woodfarm Brewery starts trading with Everards.

THE BREWERY PROCESS

INGREDIENTS

At Woodfarm Brewery we believe in using only the finest of ingredients in all of our brews, Marris Otter, Crystal, Chocolate & Roast Barley Malts, Cascade, Challenger, Boadicea & Amerillo Hops to name but a few.

But it takes a little bit more than that, as well as yeast and liquor, two other vital ingredients are needed; passion and our very own Head Brewer Chris Pickard. Chris has been a vital ingredient at Woodfarm Brewery for some time now and his brewing knowledge and expertise is second to none.
